About TSNIP
TSNIP Hotline: 205-349-8111
The Tuscaloosa Spay Neuter Incentive Program (TSNIP), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, was founded in the spring of 2013 with the mission of reducing the unwanted pet population in Tuscaloosa County through a variety of programs. Our programs include education efforts for elementary through post-secondary students as well as the general public, and a feral cat colony program that focuses on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in target zones.
The feral cat program aims to control feral cat populations through Trap-Neuter-Return. TSNIP works to create zones of spayed and neutered feral cats, dramatically reducing the breeding and nuisance behaviors of cats in that zone. This also reduces intake and euthanasia of feral cats and costs at the Metro Animal Shelter. We are providing TNR for cats in the cities of Tuscaloosa and Northport. We have provided TNR in Holt, Cottondale, and other Tuscaloosa County cities but no longer have funding for the area. If you would like to help us trap, help us finance trapping, or report cats, please call (205) 349-8111 or e-mail us at tsniphelps@gmail.com.
As we succeed in reducing the number of unwanted pets in Tuscaloosa County the need for future funding for TSNIP should begin to decrease. Correspondingly, the numbers of animals received, housed and euthanized by local shelters would be reduced, allowing shelter workers to focus on improved care of animals and adoptions.
Please join us in our efforts as we work to reduce the unwanted pet population in Tuscaloosa County by donating your time or funds. Send checks to:
